Pullman compatible suspended gangways

This series of photos shows the general arrangement and close ups of some key components of pullman compatible suspended gangways. These were modified to enable the LMS standard suspended gangways to be readily connected to pullman standard gangways, which were adopted as a standard by British Railways.

Modifications to standard suspended gangways included:

  • Addition of flange at the top and sides of the existing flange
  • Extended suspender rods
  • Hinging of the LMS gangway clamp
  • Replacing fixed lug with a sprung lug
  • Addition of pullman adapter clamps
